Settlement Charge Type Prices

Purpose of Settlement Charge Type Price Data

The prices listed below are provided for the purpose of increasing price transparency for charges allocated to Scheduling Coordinators (SCs) that incur Net Negative Uninstructed Deviations (NNUD) during a given 10-minute Settlement Interval. In addition to the cost of Uninstructed Imbalance Energy charges, SCs with NNUD may be subject, but not limited, to the following charges:

  • Allocation of Excess Cost Energy via Charge Type 4487;
  • Allocation of Minimum Load Cost Compensation used to serve system Imbalance Energy requirements FERC Must Offer Obligation System Tier 1 via Charge Type 1697, and Resource Adequacy (RA) Tier 1 System via Charge Type 1797);
  • Allocation of Participating Intermittent Resource Program (PIRP) deviation charges via Charge Type 721.

In addition, the following Must Offer Obligation (MOO) charge types are provided to provide increased transparency:

  • FERC Must Offer Obligation - Local via Charge Type 1698
  • FERC Must Offer Obligation - Zonal via Charge Type 1699
  • Resource Adequacy - Local via Charge Type 1798
  • Resource Adequacy - Zonal via Charge Type 1799

The Must Offer charge type data is included in one table.

The following tables indicate whether the prices listed are Preliminary or Final settlement prices. Settlement type 'P' prices correspond to the prices published in Scheduling Coordinators' Preliminary Settlement Statements for the respective trade date. Similarly, settlement type 'F' prices correspond to those prices published in SCs' Final Settlement Statements.

The preliminary prices, herein, may differ from prices used in the Preliminary Settlement Statements and should only be viewed as an approximation of the prices used in calculating Preliminary Settlement Statement charges. As for any variation or inconsistency between charges reflected on Preliminary Settlement Statements and the preliminary prices posted herein, the Preliminary Settlement Statement charges represent Settlement Quality Data and will prevail.

The preliminary prices, herein, reflect data from the prior three months preceding the date of their posting. The ISO disclaims all warranties, both express and implied associated with these historical prices, which cannot be relied upon for current or future settlement purposes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The preliminary prices included in the attached XLS files reflect data from the prior three months preceding the date of their posting. Once information for a specific trade date has been posted for three months, the data will be removed and no longer available from the CAISO website. Unlike the other XLS files attached below, XLS file 'Historical data for Charge Type 4487' has been posted as a convenience and includes trade dates October 1, 2004 through May 10, 2005.
