To minimize the effects of a PDCI real time N-S de-rate on the CAISO Balancing Authority (BA) Grid, the CAISO scheduler initiates an Emergency Controller Adjustment for the current hour and then again the next hour if schedule cuts cannot be accomplished in a timely and reliable manner for a partial loss of PDCI.
