Main Text

In 2005, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorized the California ISO (CAISO) to organize a representative group of stakeholders into a Board Nominee Review Committee that is responsible for nominating candidates for the CAISO Governing Board. The CAISO is seeking stakeholder participation in the 2008 Governing Board Nominee Review Committee.

The Board Nominee Review Committee is comprised of six stakeholders from each of the following member-class sectors:  Transmission Owners, Transmission-Dependent Utilities, Public Interest Groups, End-Users & Retail Energy Providers, Alternative Energy Providers, and Generators & Marketers.  Each sector is responsible for selecting its own six members to serve on the Committee.  If you are interested in participating in the process, please send your contact information and member-class sector to the list below of volunteers who are acting as sector secretaries

Once the committees have been solidified and secretaries confirmed, in accordance with the process for nominating and selecting members for the CAISO Board of Governors, as outlined in the CAISO Board Resolution Concerning Board Member selection dated 5/6/05, (as modified 8/3/06) the 2008 process for Board Member selection will begin. The term will expire on December 31, 2008 for current Board Governor Tim Gage. The following steps are being taken for the nomination:

The professional search firm of Russell Reynolds Associates will create a list of at least four qualified candidates.

The list of qualified candidates will be forwarded to the 36-member Board Nominee Review Committee, comprised of six stakeholders from each of the member-class sectors.  Each member-class sector will select one person to represent the group for a personal interview of selected candidates.  Based on inputs from the Member Class Sectors, Russell Reynolds will submit a recommendation to the CAISO for transmittal to the Governor’s office.

To streamline communication between the CAISO and the Board Nomination Review Committee, each CAISO Member Class sector is represented by a single point of contact, or secretary, who has accepted the CAISO invitation to serve in that capacity. The list of contacts is below.
