Summary:  The CAISO has posted its Information Products and Services (IP&S) Project Quarter 3, 2007 Status Report to its website for stakeholder information and review.

Main Text:  In 2006, the California ISO (CAISO) conducted stakeholder interviews and solicited stakeholder feedback on potential new or enhanced CAISO information offerings to improve the way we share information with our stakeholders.  Based on the needs identified and ranked by stakeholders, the CAISO developed the IP&S Project Final Plan, available at http://www.caiso.com/18be/18beea0b53cf0.pdf, to address the high-priority and frequently mentioned items.

Third Quarter Accomplishments

 

·      CAISO’s Reliability Requirements (IRR) Phase II project:  The CAISO completed the IRR Phase 2 implementation on August 21.  This internal implementation automated the business rules for validating the Resource Adequacy (RA) capacity, resulting in quicker CAISO response back to the submitter. 

·      Stakeholder Initiative Page Updates:  The CAISO completed updates to the Stakeholder Initiatives / Current Initiatives area of the website to ensure each current initiative contains brief background, process and outcome descriptions.

·      Transmission Planning Information Availability:  During Q3 2007, the CAISO revised the Transmission Planning web page (http://caiso.com/thegrid/planning/index.html) to provide direct links to planning related stakeholder initiatives, a web page dedicated to Reliability Planning information, and a historical listing of previous planning activities.

·      Outage Reporting Unit Information Accuracy:  On September 17, the CAISO removed outdated ownership information from the Non-Operational Generating Unit report.  The report also consolidated the outage information for resources into a single line item, removing the previous appearance of the occasional empty rows appearing below each resource. 

·      New Notice Distribution System:  The CAISO implemented a new system to distribute Market Notices that enables receipt of HTML or Text format messages, facilitates subscription self-selection and processing, and greatly reduces the size of CAISO Market Notices to around 20 KB (from between 500 KB - 1 MB).

·      Market Participant Portal Project:  CAISO completed a limited release of the portal that provides Scheduling Coordinator access to the CAISO Client Services Issue Management system and provides market information and quick links to other market applications.  Wider audience roll-out is on track for Q4.
