The Grid Management Charge (GMC) rate structure was developed in 2003 jointly with stakeholders. The CAISO and stakeholders negotiated a settlement at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2004. The Settlement resulted in a 3 year agreement on the GMC rate structure through 2006. With Market Redesign and Technology Update (MRTU), changes will be required in the GMC rate structure. The CAISO started this stakeholder process in anticipation of those changes.
